Legae Letebele
This stripe focuses on the comprehensive development of skills in fashion film production, encompassing the entire process from conceptualisation to final delivery. It emphasises collaborative storytelling through visual media, technical proficiency in videography and editing, and the ability to effectively showcase fashion designs. The stripe integrates theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing students for the multifaceted challenges of creating professional-quality fashion content in a dynamic industry environment.
To earn this credential, recipients must work collaboratively in a group to produce a fashion film that showcases the collections of GradLab.24 alumni students. The process begins with transforming previously developed concepts and storyboards into a cohesive narrative. Students must then execute all aspects of film production, including pre-production planning, videography using smartphone technology, lighting design, sound integration, and post-production editing. The final deliverable should be a polished fashion film that effectively conveys the intended narrative and highlights the featured fashion pieces. Additionally, students are required to create a 20 to 30-second trailer and document the behind-the-scenes process. Throughout the project, students must demonstrate proficiency in team coordination, problem-solving, and adherence to industry standards, including the submission of a model release form. The completed fashion film should reflect a high level of technical skill, creative vision, and professional execution, suitable for use in promoting the featured designers and the school.
