Fundamentals of RPL and CAT
STADIO is committed to widening access in Higher Education. Two of the main tools used to widen access, are RPL and CAT. Both of these processes operate in a strict regulatory environment that must be understood and adhered to by participants. Furthermore administrative and academic staff members must understand their respective roles and responsibilities in implementing these processes.
This course will provide a basic overview of main principles, the regulatory environment, as well as of the relevant STADIO policies and procedures applicable to CAT and RPL.
Skills / Knowledge
- Demonstrate understanding of the purpose, scope and regulatory environment applicable to the processes of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT).
- Describe the roles and responsibilities of parties involved in the RPL and CAT processes, in terms of the STADIO policies.
- Outline the processes applicable to RPL and CAT applications and identify the appropriate forms to be used in terms of the STADIO policies and standard operating procedures.
- Guide applicants on the completion of forms and process forms accordingly.
- Draft a basic RPL for Access and RPL for Exemption strategy for a programme/module.
- Conduct a matching exercise to determine the outcome of a CAT application.
