Assessment Development in Higher Education

Assessment is an integral part of any educational system. Therefore, assessment is a key part of the curriculum and learning. It is also an integral part of the quality and integrity of programmes. Assessment serves as an individual evaluation system, and as a way to compare performance across a spectrum and across cohorts. Regular assessment provides feedback about the learning and teaching process. Assessment can also reinforce the efficacy of teaching and learning which is a formative process. Students must be assessed in a fair and valid manner. The Council on Higher Education (CHE) requires us to train all academic staff responsible for the development and administration of student assessment in a formal manner. STADIO has a number of schools that cover a wide range of disciplines with completely different challenges and requirements with regard to assessment.
